Prevention Campaign on Domestic Violence In Nigeria

Relationships are dented due to lack of communication, anger, lack of respect for partner and all other attitudes that hinder love and affection between two people or even within an household. The result is domestic abuse in some cases and even in the extreme is violence leading to death or permanent loss of body parts. In Nigeria, study shows that 25% of women go through one form of domestic abuse or the other in their life time. Even though there are family laws guiding relationships in place, such laws are not effective or uphold whenever there are report of cases of domestic abuse like rape, battering, and homicide involving women.  Apart from that, it is difficult to have the statistics of domestic violence because not all cases are reported for proper investigation and documentation. This for fear of injustice and stigmatization. What do you think can be done to prevent domestic violence in Nigeria?  Please comment.
